Delhi Traffic Advisory: Heavy Congestion Around Parliament From Tomorrow; Check Roads To Avoid, Alternative Routes

Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: The monsoon session of Parliament is set to begin on Monday. During the session, traffic on several major roads and intersections may be affected due to increased VVIP movement and tight security arrangements in the Parliament House and the New Delhi area.

In view of this, the Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the citizens to plan their travel better and use alternative routes.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: Avoid THESE Routes

According to the traffic police, congestion may increase on Rafi Marg, Motilal Nehru Marg, Maulana Azad Road, K Kamaraj Marg, Raisina Road, Rajendra Prasad Road, Parliament Marg, Ashoka Road, Talkatora Road, Pandit Pant Marg, and Rakabganj Gurudwara Road. People are advised to avoid these routes unless absolutely necessary.

Traffic is likely to be affected at major intersections such as Vijay Chowk, Patel Chowk, Boat Club, Buta Singh Marg, Rail Bhavan, Prime Chowk, Sunehri Masjid, GRG, and Jalebi Chowk. Therefore, drivers are advised to allow extra time in these areas.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: Alternative Routes

The traffic police have suggested Janpath, Man Singh Road, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg and Panchsheel Marg as alternative routes.

Apart from this, Vinay Marg, Outer Circle (Connaught Place), Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent Road and Sardar Patel Marg can also be used as per requirement.

The Delhi Traffic Police have appealed to motorists to maintain patience, obey traffic rules, and fully comply with the instructions of the police officers on duty. The police said that with the cooperation of the public, traffic can be maintained smoothly during the monsoon session of Parliament.

In another update, paying traffic challans in Delhi is set to become a much simpler and faster process. Soon, people visiting Lok Adalats will be able to clear their pending traffic fines without the hassle of cash payments, as authorities are introducing digital payment options such as UPI and debit or credit cards.

The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) is preparing to enable traffic challan payments through UPI and debit or credit cards during the upcoming special Lok Adalat. The move aims to make the challan payment process quicker, more transparent, and completely digital.

During the recent Lok Adalat proceedings, the Digital Lok Adalat application was also used to facilitate settlements. Developed jointly by the DSLSA, the Delhi Government, the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and the Delhi Traffic Police, the application enabled a completely paperless settlement process for traffic challans.
