10 lakh people will get benefits: 2.70 lakh registered construction workers will be covered

About 2.70 lakh registered construction workers and their families will benefit from this scheme. That means in total about 10 lakh people will come under its purview. Apart from annual health check-up for the workers and their families, various medical services will also be provided free of cost. The entire process of treatment will be cashless, so that there is no financial burden on the workers and their families.

CM Rekha Gupta said: Health safety of workers is the top priority of the government.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government is working with full sensitivity and commitment for the welfare of every section of the society, especially the poor, laborers and deprived families. He said that construction workers are the foundation of the capital’s development and strengthening their health and social security is the main priority of the government. For this purpose, the Cabinet has approved this important health scheme.

Risk of silicosis and lung disease: Special focus on the health of construction workers

He told that construction workers often work in difficult conditions amidst stone cutting dust, chemicals, loud noise, heavy machines and dust and mud. Because of this, they remain at risk of silicosis (lung disease), shortness of breath, skin diseases and other serious health problems.

Security like health insurance for labor families: provision of free and quality treatment

He also said that there was a long lack of a comprehensive health protection scheme for this category, and the current initiative has been taken to fill this gap. The Chief Minister said that under this scheme, registered construction laborers and their eligible family members, including spouse, children and parents, will be able to avail free and quality healthcare services through empaneled hospitals and mobile health units.

Big advantage of cashless treatment: Coverage up to Rs 2 lakh per laborer and Rs 10 lakh per family.

Every registered laborer will be able to get treatment up to Rs 2 lakh in the empaneled hospitals, whereas for a family this limit will be up to Rs 10 lakh. The entire process of treatment will be cashless, due to which there will be no financial burden on the workers and their families.

Free health checkup, OPD-IPD and emergency medical services will also be available.

This scheme will also provide the facility of annual health check-up for registered laborers and their spouses. Apart from this, the beneficiaries will also get free OPD and IPD services, diagnostic and lab facilities, emergency medical assistance and referral services. Health services will also be provided through mobile medical units in construction sites and areas with dense population of workers.

Digital health records and 24×7 helpline: Emphasis on technology-based health services

According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, under the scheme, digital health records of the beneficiaries will be created and a modern beneficiary tracking system will also be developed for transparency and effective monitoring in the delivery of services. A 24×7 toll-free helpline will also be started to help the workers.

Delhi government will spend Rs 200 crore annually, social security will get a new basis

He further said that this scheme is not limited to just providing healthcare services, but it is a big social security initiative aimed at improving the quality of life of workers and their families. The government expects that approximately Rs 200 crore will be spent annually on this scheme.

This initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s labor welfare schemes: CM Rekha Gupta

CM Rekha Gupta said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has always given top priority to the welfare of the poor, laborers and those working in the unorganized sector. Continuous efforts have been made to provide social and economic security to laborers through initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, e-Shram Portal and Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana. He said that the Delhi government is committed to carry forward this spirit and bring positive changes in the lives of the workers.
