Delhi: Government engaged in pollution control campaign, Gopal Rai got drone mapping done at Wazirpur hot-spot.

For the first time, drone monitoring was done as a pilot project to identify the causes of pollution in the hotspot zone in Delhi. Environment Minister of Delhi Government, Gopal Rai said that the level of pollution in 13 hot-spots of the capital is higher than normal. To effectively reduce the factors of pollution at these hot-spots, drone mapping was done on Wazirpur hot-spot by an empaneled agency of Survey of India on Friday. He said that if this pilot project is successful then we will implement it in other hot-spots also.

The Delhi government minister further said that our aim is to reduce pollution by making maximum use of modernization of technology. At present, drone mapping action is being taken at Wazirpur hot-spot under the pilot project. This drone will send information about various sources of pollution in a radius of 200 meters from a height of 120 meters to the Environment Department and DPCC. Environment and DPCC engineers will analyze it and submit the report to us. On that basis, more effective steps will be taken.

13 hotspots identified in Delhi

Gopal Rai said that to deal with the problem of winter pollution, a winter action plan with 21 points was announced on September 25. One of the major initiatives under this is to monitor pollution at hotspots using drone technology. We have identified 13 hotspots in Delhi, where there is more pollution.

Gopal Rai said that drone mapping technology is an important tool in identifying air pollution sources in the city. Drones equipped with advanced sensors are capable of reaching congested urban areas, industrial areas and areas that are difficult to monitor through traditional methods. The deployment of drones enables better understanding of the spread of pollutants and identifying hotspots such as unauthorized industrial operations or construction sites that violate regulations.

Instant information about sources of pollution

Gopal Rai said that sources of pollution like open burning, irregular construction activities, traffic congestion etc. can be immediately detected and through which the agency can implement corrective measures. Data collected through drone mapping will play an important role in formulating effective pollution control policies. This comprehensive initiative aims to improve air quality monitoring and management through effective use of drone-based technology.

At present, drone mapping has been done in Wazirpur as a demonstration today to know the benefits and effectiveness of the advanced technology of drone mapping. If it is successful then we will implement it on other hot-spots also.
