Harsh Goenka Viral Post: Which hotel in Switzerland had reportedly put up a notice with special rules for Indian guests? What instructions were given to Indian guests in the hotel notice regarding food and restaurant behavior? How did industrialist Harsh Goenka react to this notice?
Switzerland Hotel Notice: It is often said that Indians lack ‘civic sense’. Many times Indians themselves criticize each other on this issue. Now a case has come to light which seems to further strengthen this belief. The case pertains to a hotel in Switzerland, where a special notice was put up only for Indian guests. Famous industrialist Harsh Goenka has shared the picture of this notice, which is of Hotel Arc-en-ciel in Gstaad, Switzerland.
This notice itself begins with ‘Dear Indian guests…’. In this, the hotel has given a long list of instructions like regarding breakfast time, behavior in the restaurant and not making noise in the corridors and balconies of the hotel.
‘Everything you see at the buffet is freshly prepared and sourced from local producers,’ the notice read. Please do not take any food out from here, this food is only for breakfast. It has also been told in the notice that if the guests wish, they can order a ‘lunch bag’ by paying money.
The hotel further wrote, ‘Our restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner. We have a variety of cuisines, including vegetarian food. If two or more people share a dish, there will be additional charges. Apart from this, guests were also appealed to speak softly in public places.

He also mentioned how videos of people doing Garba in restaurants, talking loudly at airports and turning airplanes into picnic spots are often seen. He said that Indians need to improve their civic sense. Many people agreed with Goenka’s post. However, some people also believe that this attitude of the hotel is racist and it is discrimination against Indians.
