Hotel operator Deepak Singh Tanwar, resident of Barwah, had left with his entire family on June 22 to visit Vaishnodevi, Amritsar and Haridwar. Everything was normal, there was an atmosphere of happiness in the family. On Wednesday he had to return to his home via Indore. Till a few hours before his death, Deepak was very happy and he had shared a video and status on social media. Screams of the helpless husband: “Sir! She was burnt alive in front of my eyes…”

The most painful and hair-raising story of this accident is of Jitendra Pandey, who is a computer operator in the Forest Department in Barwah. Jitendra was returning with his wife Priyanka Pandey (35) and 7-year-old son Abhinav. His seat was right behind the driver. Jitendra’s eyes suddenly opened in the silence of the night due to a loud crash and scream. There was chaos all around. Jitendra took his son out safely, but when he returned to save his wife Priyanka, the ground slipped beneath his feet. Priyanka’s leg was badly stuck under the seat. Jitendra said crying: “I held Priyanka’s hand and tried my best to pull her out. I ran outside the bus and started pulling her from the window. But she was not able to move. I begged people a lot, ‘Somebody help me, get her out’… but everyone was panicked. Within no time, the bus caught fire and my wife was burnt alive in front of me. I just kept shouting ‘Help, help’.”
