Claiming BJP’s victory in Datia assembly by-election, CM Mohan Yadav said that the party is united. He accused Congress of stopping development by making false promises. BJP has fielded Ashutosh Tiwari and Congress has fielded Ghanshyam Singh.

Datia (Madhya Pradesh) [भारत]July 13 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday expressed confidence of BJP’s victory in the Datia Assembly by-election. He said the party is “united” and determined to achieve a “massive victory” on the seat.

CM Yadav expressed confidence of victory

Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Yadav said, “BJP candidate Ashutosh Tiwari has filed his nomination today. We are united and determined to achieve a massive victory. Addressing the public meeting here, we have appealed to the people to vote for us. I am confident that the public will ensure a landslide victory as Datia has paid a heavy price for choosing Congress in the past.”

He also accused the Congress of making “false promises of development” to the people during its tenure.

“The pace of development that was going on here was disrupted; the Congress made false promises of development, but as per its style, all the progress came to a complete halt. MLAs became careless and various allegations were leveled against them. The public has seen all this,” he said, apparently referring to Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti, who was disqualified after being convicted in a fraud case.

“…We have filed nomination papers for Datia by-election. We will win with an overwhelming majority,” CM Yadav told ANI.

Narottam Mishra also expressed hope of victory

Furthermore, BJP leader Narottam Mishra also expressed confidence in the party’s victory, saying that the BJP will “win by a good margin”.

“We will keep appealing, and we will make the BJP win. The BJP will win by a good margin. You can see whether there has been development or not and compare whether the Congress has done anything,” Mishra said.

Mishra represented Datia Assembly constituency for three consecutive terms after winning the seat in 2008, 2013 and 2018. However, he lost this seat in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. Despite hopes that the senior BJP leader would be re-nominated for the by-election, the party has instead fielded Ashutosh Tiwari.
