Customer will not be ‘gamed’ in the name of diamond, will soon get certificate like gold

To test the purity of gold, the government had made hallmarking mandatory on jewellery. This rule was implemented by the government from June 2021. After this, the customer who bought gold jewelery heaved a sigh of relief. Before hallmarking was implemented on gold jewellery, there used to be a game with the customers, in which jewelery shop owners used to declare their jewelery as 24 carat, but in reality it was only 21 or 22 carat.

Exactly the same thing happens with those who buy diamonds. To prevent this, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) is soon going to make rules for clear labeling and certification for diamonds. After this, customers buying diamonds will be able to buy diamonds without any fear.

These rules will come for diamond

A meeting of key stakeholders and experts was held under the chairmanship of CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare, after which it was said that CCPA will soon bring guidelines for transparency, accountability and consumer protection in the diamond business.

How customers are cheated

The process of making diamond is very long and the demand for diamond is also high. To take advantage of this, some people sell synthetic diamonds. Whereas the jewelery shop owners do not give any information about it. In such a situation, when the customer comes to know about this, he feels cheated.

What can be in the guidelines of a diamond?

CCPA can implement certification like the hallmarking system of gold jewelery in the guidelines that will be made for the sale of diamonds. Along with this, the customer will have to be clearly informed about synthetic diamonds. For which CCPA can also implement labeling system. After this, whenever you buy a diamond from a jewelery shop, you will not be afraid of synthetic diamonds.
