The second edition of TV9 Bangla’s Ghorer Bioscope Award Show started colorfully. On this occasion, MD & CEO of Tv9 Network, Barun Das welcomed all the guests and told about the awards show. He said that this award show recognizes the impact of Bengali television serials and OTT content on the culture of West Bengal. For this awards show, all the film superstars and television artists have gathered in an auditorium in Kolkata.
Earlier, the anchors of the award show introduced Barun Das, MD & CEO of Tv9 Network and talked about his philosophy ‘if it is to be, then it is up to me’. When Barun Das reached the podium he said, ‘This is not the philosophy of any individual, this is the philosophy of any success, for any industry, for any country.’
Barun Das said that superstar Allu Arjun could not come to Kolkata for this show. His film Pushpa 2 is about to be released, that is why due to his busy schedule he could not reach here at the last moment, but the advance booking of his film Pushpa 2 has crossed Rs 50 crores, on the first day the collection of this film is more than Rs 300 crores. Can do.
Comparing this, he said that ‘Bengali film industry can earn Rs 100 crore in a year. Allu Arjun is a regional artist. Bengal is also a regional film industry. We are not using our creative abilities properly. Our creativity ability in Kolkata is more than many places in India.
TV9 Network MD and CEO Barun Das, referring to author Eric Weiner, said that he has written a book ‘The Geography of Genius’. In this book he has explored the most creative places in the world. Along with Venice, Florence, Kolkata is also on his list. There is some misinformation about the Rabindranath Tagore family, but overall the book is really great and reliable. I agree with him that Kolkata is truly a creative city.
Taking the names of Satyajit Roy, Ritwik and Mrinal Sen, TV9 Network MD and CEO Barun Das said, ‘Once upon a time we (Bengali) used to rule the Bombay film industry. India’s three greatest directors Satyajit Roy, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen were Bengali. Can’t we bring back those days?
On completion of 50 years of Bengali television, Barun Das said that ‘Bengali television has turned 50 years old. This year is the 100th birth anniversary of Ritwik Ghatak. We celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of Mrinal Sen in 2023. This is the right time. We can start our journey right now.”
Referring to OTT and AI, Barun Das says that ‘OTT can now help the Bengali film industry. This eliminates the importance of distributors. Now the audience is the king. He can see anything anywhere. Referring to the Korean thriller webseries Squid Game, he said that this web series creates a tremendous impact. He also says that AI is an unknown monster, but humans can combat it with their creativity.
Referring to the idea of IT back office in Bengaluru, Tv9 MD and CEO Barun Das said, “Bengaluru has made great achievements in IT back office and has become the Silicon Valley of India. Then why can’t Bengal do this? There is so much creativity here. The creative talent here is the highest. Kolkata is not only affordable, but in terms of quality it is also better than the rest of India. It is good that we have creative talent. I believe that there is a possibility of renaissance of Bengali film industry.
