New Delhi: Britain’s famous automobile brand ‘MINI’ has launched its brand new Countryman C in India. This is the first time that this SUV of the company will be ‘Made in India’, which will be produced at the BMW Group plant in Chennai. The company said that the sale of petrol variants has started from Wednesday. Its booking is open at all authorized dealerships of MINI India and deliveries have also started immediately.
How much is the Countryman C?
The Countryman C is offered in only one ‘Favored Pack’ trim, which is priced at Rs 47,50,000, ex-showroom. The car is available in five colours: British Racing Green, Smokey Green, Nanook White, Slate Blue and Chilli Red. It also comes with a jet black roof and 19-inch Kaleido spoke two-tone alloy wheels as standard.

MINI describes the new model as “a truly new kind of big car”. According to the company, the car “transforms traditional MINI design into a powerful SUV with bold looks and a cabin that is extremely practical for family adventures, while maintaining our iconic go-kart feel.” Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said, “We are very pleased that this car will now be manufactured in India. This will strategically strengthen our portfolio and provide excellent value to our customers. The Countryman C is designed for those who want a powerful and versatile vehicle for everyday use, but who do not want to compromise on style.”
How different is the Countryman C car from other cars?
- The company claims that the height and ground clearance of this SUV is the best in its segment. Its powerful proportions and short overhangs give it “an unmistakable and powerful presence on the road”.
- The car has a 1.5L petrol engine which is equipped with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. This engine generates power of 115 kW/156 hp and torque of 240 Nm. It is paired with a 7-speed double clutch Steptronic sport transmission.
- Inside the car, MINI adopts a “charismatic simplicity” design, with a minimalist cabin and a 240mm circular OLED touchscreen in the center, which runs on MINI Operating System 9.
What are the special features in the car?
- Its key features include a head-up display, Digital Key Plus, a 12-speaker system by Harman Kardon, a panorama glass sunroof, seat massage for the driver and eight MINI Experience modes, ranging from ‘Go-Kart Mode’ to ‘Green Mode’.
- The boot space of the car is 505 litres, which can be expanded to 1450 liters by folding the rear seats.
- As for safety, the car has received a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and includes standard ADAS Level 1 features like Parking Assistant Plus (with 360° camera) and cruise control.
