Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched ‘Sahkar se Samridhi – Cooperative Week 2026’. This event is being organized on the completion of five years of the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation of the Government of India.
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated ‘Sahkar se Samridhi – Cooperative Week 2026’ at Delhi Secretariat on Monday. This program has been organized by the Government of India on the occasion of completion of five years of the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation. The CM also flagged off a cooperative awareness van to promote the cooperative movement in the capital.

What will Delhi government do?
- According to a press release, the Cooperation Department of Delhi Government is organizing this week-long campaign. There will be awareness drives, seminars, tree planting drives, quiz competitions and many programs to connect with people. Its objective is to promote participation of common people in the cooperative sector.
- Delhi’s Cooperative Minister Ravinder Inderraj Singh, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister Ashish Sood, senior officers of the Cooperative Department and representatives of cooperative institutions participated in the inaugural program.
- At the beginning of the campaign, the Chief Minister also released colorful balloons and then flagged off the cooperative awareness van. This van will go to different parts of Delhi to make people aware about the role and benefits of cooperative institutions. Street plays and other awareness related activities also took place in Delhi Secretariat.
- Addressing the people present on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that cooperation is more than an economic model and it plays an important role in strengthening the society.
- CM Gupta said, “Cooperation is not just an economic system, but it is a strong medium of social participation, self-reliance and collective development. The Delhi government is fully committed to taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Prosperity from Cooperation’ to every citizen.”
- He expressed confidence that the Cooperative Week will encourage more and more people to join cooperative institutions and contribute to the economic-social development of the society.
- In the program, Cooperative Minister Ravinder Inderraj Singh said that the Delhi government is modernizing cooperative institutions through technology-driven governance and greater transparency.
- Singh said, “The cooperative sector is being further strengthened through modern technology, digital services and transparent governance. Our aim is to make cooperative institutions more accountable, efficient and citizen-centric, so that better services can be provided to the people and the cooperative movement accelerates economic prosperity.”
- He said that in the Cooperative Week, there will be cooperative awareness vans, public awareness campaigns, seminars, panel discussions, online-offline quizzes, tree planting drives and many programs across Delhi.
- According to the minister, as part of efforts to conserve the environment, about 10,000 saplings will be planted in Narela, Dwarka, Rohini and other parts of the city during this campaign.
- Singh said, “Cooperation is not only a means of economic development, but it is also the foundation of social unity, transparency, collective responsibility and self-reliant India. Our effort is that more and more citizens should become a part of the cooperative movement and make it a means of their economic and social progress.”
- He appealed to the people of Delhi to participate enthusiastically in the programs to be held this week and contribute in making the Prime Minister’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” a mass movement.
- The Minister also said that everyone’s participation will play an important role in achieving the goal of “Developed Delhi” and “Developed India 2047”.
- During this week, awareness programs on role of cooperatives, digital cooperatives, environment protection and community participation will be organized in different parts of Delhi. The event will conclude with a grand closing ceremony on 6th July, where the best cooperatives, winners of various competitions and people who have made significant contributions to the cooperative sector will be felicitated.
