Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, water conservation has become a mass movement. VB-G RAM-G scheme has given impetus to employment, water conservation and green development. ‘Mor Gaon-Mor Paani’ campaign has developed 200 lakh liter ground water recharge capacity in MCB district.

Raipur: Under the Bharat-Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) (VB-G RAM-G), developed under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and guidance of Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, the works of employment generation, water conservation, natural resource management and green development have gained widespread momentum in the entire state. Through the ‘More Village-More Water’ campaign, the state government is giving water conservation the form of a mass movement. Under the campaign, along with creating employment of lakhs of man-days across the state, effective work is being done towards ground water enrichment by constructing water conservation structures.

‘One tree in mother’s name’ program launched

  • In the same sequence, public conference, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ massive tree plantation and ‘Mor Gaon-Mor Pani’ public participation program were organized in Gram Panchayat Bardar under District Panchayat Kharagwan of District Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB).
  • Chief guest of the program, Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education and Manendragarh MLA Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal inaugurated the program by planting trees. He himself gave the message of water conservation by digging the contour trench and said that water conservation is not only the need of today but is the biggest responsibility for the safe future of the coming generations. He called upon the villagers to make the water conservation and tree plantation campaign a mass movement with maximum public participation.

Water conservation model being prepared in 52 acres

Integrated water conservation and green development model is being developed in 52 acres area in Gram Panchayat Bardar. Under this, a system of rainwater collection and ground water conservation through contour trenches and other water conservation works has been developed in an area of ​​30 acres, while plantation of about 2,000 fruit and other plants has been started in an area of ​​22 acres. This model of water conservation and green development will become an excellent example of sustainable management of natural resources in rural areas.

The picture will change with ‘Mor Gaon-Mor Paani’ campaign

  • Due to the work done under the ‘Mor Gaon-Mor Paani’ campaign, about 200 lakh liters of ground water recharge capacity has been developed in this area. This will provide long-term benefits to irrigation, drinking water availability, agricultural productivity and environmental protection in the future.
  • It is noteworthy that through VB-G RAM-G, the works of water conservation, tree plantation, natural resource management, rural infrastructure construction and livelihood promotion are being carried out on priority in all the districts of the state by the state government. The objective of the government is to make every Gram Panchayat water-secure, green and self-reliant through public participation.
