New Delhi: The NEET exam controversy related to the future of millions of youth of the country has now taken such a political form that it has created an earthquake in the corridors of power of the country. As soon as the monsoon session of Parliament begins, the verbal spat between the ruling party and the opposition has intensified. After the high-voltage protest and march outside the Prime Minister’s residence by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, finally a big and very aggressive statement from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has come out. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared a very strong post on the social media platform ‘X’ and expressed deep objection to the intentions of the Congress. The minister directly alleged that Rahul Gandhi and his party are using innocent students of the country as “political weapons” to make political gains. Pradhan wrote in his post that Congress has a unilateral intention to disrupt the proceedings of Parliament since the beginning of the monsoon session. For this they are using the anger and concerns of the students as a pawn or prop. He said clearly, “Indian students deserve better treatment than to be used in a political campaign. They deserve certainty instead of chaos, solutions instead of slogans and responsibility instead of disruption.”

The series of sharp attacks by the Education Minister did not stop here. He also raised serious questions over the manner in which Rahul Gandhi staged his protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. According to Dharmendra Pradhan, the government was 100 per cent ready from the very first day to have a comprehensive and detailed discussion under the rules on sensitive issues like NEET and paper leak within the Parliament.
Despite this, the opposition considered it better to create a “political drama” on the streets rather than participate in a healthy democratic debate inside the Parliament. He claimed that by holding such irresponsible protests in the VVIP area and outside the Prime Minister’s residence, not only did huge inconvenience be caused to the general public of Delhi, but the very strict and fixed security rules were also blatantly ignored. The minister alleged that the aim of the opposition was not to find any real solution for the students but only to garner “political headlines”.
Solution or just conflict? Will the restlessness of the youth of the country be calmed?
Dharmendra Pradhan, while targeting Rahul Gandhi’s political working style, said that this entire movement is not actually about the problems of the students. Despite every right and constitutional avenues of discussion being open, Rahul Gandhi’s sole objective is to create conflict with the government at every turn. Amidst this political turmoil, the Education Minister reassured the youth and students of the country and reiterated the government’s commitment. He clarified that the Central Government is fully committed to addressing every legitimate and logical concern of the youth on the floor of the House. Pradhan concluded, “Our responsibility to students is not limited to simply expressing anger. We must hold them to account, to reform, and to hold them accountable. Our government is committed to doing just that.” Now it remains to be seen what is the next strategy of the opposition and student organizations after this strong counterattack by the government and whether there will be any peaceful discussion on this in the Parliament.
