BJP, which is contesting on 68 seats in Jharkhand, has announced candidates for 66 seats. The two seats where the party has not fielded candidates include Tundi in Dhanbad and Barhet seat in Sahebganj. Regarding Tundi, it is being said that allies Janata Dal United and AJSU are claiming here, hence BJP is avoiding declaring the candidate here.
However, there is silence within the party regarding Sahebganj seat. Big leaders of BJP are giving only one answer regarding fielding candidates on this seat – wait. In such a situation, the question is being raised that why is BJP fielding the last candidate in Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Barhet?
Why the delay in fielding candidates in Barhat?
On Barhat, BJP wanted to bet on Lewis Marandi, who had earlier contested from Dumka, but Lewis refused to contest there. Lewis said that I have prepared the ground in Dumka, so why would I go to Barhat. However, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has given ticket to Lewis from Jama. In such a situation, the question is arising that why did Lewis, who was going to Jama, not go to Barhet?
After Lewis joining Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, BJP is currently in no risk mode. It is being said that BJP fears that if someone is made a candidate against Hemant and in time he changes sides like Lewis, then it may bring disgrace to BJP.
JMM can project this as victory even before the elections. Anyway, nominations have to be filed in Barhet till 29th November, hence BJP is in no hurry to declare the candidate here.
Don’t want to give message of walkover
In 2019, BJP had fielded Simon Malto against Hemant Soren and in 2014, Hemlal Murmu. Hemlal Murmu is currently with Hemant Soren. Simone Malto is definitely ready to shake the beat this time. However, in the last election Malto lost to Hemant by 25 thousand votes.
BJP does not want to field any such candidate this time, so that the message goes among the people that Hemant has got a walkover in Barhet.
JMM is taunting, silence in BJP
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is fiercely taunting BJP over the delay in fielding candidates from Barhet. Former MLA Kunal Shadangi, while talking to the journalists, said that only if BJP fields Babu Lal Marandi from here, something can be done.
Jharkhand BJP state president Babu Lal Marandi is currently a candidate from Dhanwar seat of Giridih. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha says that BJP has accepted defeat even before the elections, hence it is not fielding candidates against Hemant.
On the whole issue, former candidate from Barhet, Simon Malto, says that the party will take a decision soon. Talking to journalists, Malto said that there is a delay, but the party will take a concrete decision.
