glasgow [स्कॉटलैंड]July 30 (ANI): Wednesday was another successful day for India at the Commonwealth Games 2026, in which India added three more medals to its kitty including one gold and two silver, while six boxers assured at least six more medals by reaching the semi-finals.
Indian stars shine in athletics
The biggest highlight of the day was the men’s T47 100m race, where India put in a memorable performance and captured the first two positions. According to ESPN, Dilip Mahadu Gavit won the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record time of 10.71 seconds. He showed great pace in the last 30 metres. Fellow Indian Mohammad Basil Morsinnakath won silver in 10.83 seconds, pipping England’s Kevin Santos (10.85 seconds) to complete a historic Indian dominance on the podium.
Athletics added another medal as long jump athlete Murali Sreeshankar won his second consecutive Commonwealth Games silver medal. The 27-year-old Sreeshankar recorded a best jump of 8.09m and finished behind Jamaica’s Tejay Gayle (8.15m), while Scotland’s Stephen McKenzie won the bronze medal with 8.08m. Sreeshankar also became the first Indian male long jump athlete to win two Commonwealth Games medals.
India’s excellent performance in boxing, 6 medals assured
It was a great day for Indian boxing, with six boxers reaching the semi-finals and ensuring at least one bronze medal. Sakshi Choudhary (Women’s 51kg), Jasmine Lamboria (Women’s 57kg), Arundhati Choudhary (Women’s 70kg), Sachin Siwach (Men’s 60kg), Ankush Panghal (Men’s 80kg) and Narendra Berwal (Men’s 90+kg) all kept India’s hopes of multiple gold medals alive by winning their quarterfinal bouts.

Elsewhere in athletics, Manpreet Kaur missed a medal by a narrow margin and finished fourth in the women’s shot put with a best throw of 17.49 metres. National record holder Parul Chaudhary finished fifth in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final after falling behind the leading group in the closing stages of the race.
India also got encouraging results in track events. Yashas Palaksha and Santosh Kumar Tamilarasan qualified for the men’s 400 meters hurdles final, while Animesh Kujur reached the men’s 200 meters semi-finals. In men’s shot put, Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Samardeep Singh Gill made it to the finals.

In lawn bowls, Dinesh Kumar and Navneet Singh defeated Namibia 2-0 in the men’s pairs sectional play, while Nayanamoni Saikia recovered from her opening loss to beat Isle of Man’s Caroline Whitehead 2-0 in the women’s singles to keep her semi-final hopes alive.

In para-swimming, Suyyash Narayan Jadhav and Chaitanya Vishwas Kulkarni reached the final of the men’s 50m freestyle S7 and finished fourth and fifth respectively.

In para athletics, Sagar Thayat finished sixth in the men’s discus throw F42-44/F61-64 final with a season-best throw of 51.79 metres, while Devender Kumar finished seventh with 48.20 metres.
