Neeraj Chopra’s Success in Javelin Throw
Neeraj Chopra has transformed Indian athletics over the past few years with a series of remarkable achievements on the global stage.
His biggest breakthrough came at the Tokyo Olympics, where he won the historic gold medal with a throw of 87.58m, becoming India’s first-ever Olympic champion in athletics and the first Asian athlete to claim Olympic gold in men’s javelin.
He followed it up by winning the World Athletics Championships 2023, becoming the first Indian to secure a world title in athletics. Chopra also won the Diamond League Final in 2022 and has consistently remained among the world’s top-ranked javelin throwers.
The 27-year-old has also enjoyed success at the Commonwealth Games, winning gold at Gold Coast 2018 with a Games record throw of 86.47m. He missed the Birmingham 2022 edition due to injury, making his return to the Commonwealth Games in 2026 one of the most anticipated moments for Indian athletics fans.
