Chief Minister Nitish Kumar honored the Indian women’s hockey team for winning the Bihar Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 in a felicitation ceremony held at Bapu Tower Auditorium in Patna on Sunday. A prize of Rs 10 lakh was given to each player and head coach of the winning team. Whereas the supporting staff was given Rs 5 lakh. Many departments and officers who contributed in making this event successful were also honored with citations.
Teams from India, China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia participated in this international competition held in Rajgir. In the final match, India defeated China and won the championship. The Chief Minister congratulated the entire team of women’s hockey team including coach Harendra Singh, captain Salima Tete and vice-captain Navneet Kaur for their excellent performance. He described this historic event as a proud moment for Bihar.
New beginning in game development
The Chief Minister said that such international events will promote sports in the state and inspire young players. He termed this championship as historic and expressed commitment to promote such competitions further in future. Sports Minister Surendra Mehta, officials of various departments and all the members of the women’s hockey team were present in this program.
Administrative team contribution
The contribution of Nalanda and Gaya District Administration, Sports Department, Building Construction Department, and Bihar Police Academy was also appreciated in the program. The Chief Minister honored all these departments by giving them citations. Also, Hockey India General Secretary Bhola Nath Singh welcomed the Chief Minister by giving him a memento. During the event, a documentary related to the competition was also screened, in which this success was shown.
