Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the consultation workshop organized on the topic “Strengthening Cyber Security Framework for State Data” on June 15 at Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium in the capital Bhopal. On this occasion, he said that Madhya Pradesh is fully prepared to meet the challenges of changing technology and digital era. Praising the state police for effective action against cyber crimes, he said that with new technologies, new types of threats are also emerging.
Mentioned the challenges of Operation Sindoor and new technology
The Chief Minister said that technology-based challenges have increased rapidly in recent years. Even during operations like Operation Sindoor, challenges related to new technologies came to the fore. He said that the biggest specialty of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is that he identifies possible threats and challenges in time and makes necessary arrangements at the governance and administration level to deal with them.
Transparency increased through Jan Dhan Yojana and DBT
Dr. Yadav said that after 2014, Prime Minister Modi opened bank accounts of crores of people through Jan Dhan Yojana, which made it possible to deliver the benefits of government schemes directly to the beneficiaries. He said that after the implementation of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, transparency in government assistance increased and the role of middlemen was eliminated to a great extent. Now the benefits of the schemes are reaching the bank accounts of eligible persons directly.
Data security said to be a bigger challenge than border security
The Chief Minister said that in today’s digital era, data security has become extremely important. He said that despite all the security arrangements, if a citizen’s lifetime earnings become a victim of fraud by cyber criminals within a few minutes, then it is a matter of serious concern. Therefore, giving top priority to data security is the need of the hour.
Emphasis on strong strategy against cyber crime
Dr. Mohan Yadav said that an invisible threat in the form of cyber crime is present before the society and it is necessary to prepare a trained and capable system to deal with it. He said that India’s UPI payment system has received appreciation across the world. In such a situation, when citizens are increasingly using digital services and online transactions, it is also the responsibility of the government to ensure their security. He said that this workshop will play an important role in finding solutions to challenges like cyber crime, deepfakes and digital fraud.
No compromise on cyber security, data is the most valuable asset
The Chief Minister clearly said that no negligence can be accepted in matters of cyber security and data protection. State data is one of the most important assets of the government. If any kind of data breach occurs, the responsibility for its consequences and economic loss also falls on the government. Therefore, the state government is working with full seriousness and commitment while giving top priority to cyber security.
Cyber security research center will be built in Madhya Pradesh
In order to further strengthen cyber security, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced the establishment of Cyber Security Research Center in the state. He said that this center will be developed with the cooperation of Mhow-based Military College of Telecommunication Engineering and other educational institutions. This research center will become a major center for cyber security research, innovation, skill development and development of modern security technologies. Through this, advanced systems will be developed for timely detection, monitoring and prevention of cyber attacks.
Preparation to develop forecast based security system
The Chief Minister said that the new system will not be limited only to reacting after cyber attacks, but will also work towards preventing potential threats by identifying them in advance. This will make the digital infrastructure of the state more secure.
Madhya Pradesh is the leader in digital services
Addressing the workshop, Principal Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, M. Selvendran said that Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states of the country in providing digital services. Many departments of the state government have also received national level honors for digital innovation and e-governance. He said that in many cases of banking fraud and cyber crime, data leakage occurs due to weaknesses in institutions like power companies or municipal bodies. In such a situation, it is very important to keep the data of citizens safe.
Cyber experts will brainstorm on policy and technical issues
M. Selvendran said that many times citizens have to face inconvenience due to server related problems. Madhya Pradesh has already taken several initiatives at the institutional level to strengthen cyber security. In this workshop, experts from across the country will have detailed discussions on cyber security, data protection, institutional framework and policy reforms.
