Class 9 student dies by suicide a day before birthday; torn suicide note deepens mystery

New Delhi: A shocking incident came into the limelight as a 9th-class student committed suicide just a day before his birthday. The student also wrote a suicide note before hanging himself. Later, the deceased was identified as Ayush (14).

Ayush’s father is a head constable in the Uttar Pradesh police and is posted at the Mahanagar Kotwali police station in Lucknow. Rakesh Kumar, the deceased student’s father, made some serious allegations of mental torture against Ayush’s school teachers.

According to Rakesh, the teacher was pressuring his son to attend his private coaching classes. He also said that Ayush’s birthday was on May 16, and on May 13, the family attended a wedding, but both his sons stayed home. Ayush had told his father that he wanted to study at home and also asked for a guitar as a birthday gift.

Elder brother found the body hanging in the room

The elder son, Abhay, called his father to say that his brother had locked himself in the room, and despite repeated knocking, Ayush wasn’t giving any response. His father ordered Abhay to break the door, and upon breaking the door, Ayush was hanging from a fan hook.

Local police arrived at the scene upon receiving the information. Police also found a suicide note, which had been torn into pieces. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Rakesh recounted that his son complained several times about the teachers, saying, “I don’t want to study in this school. The education here isn’t good, and the case teacher forces me to take separate coaching classes. He also threatens to fail me in the school exams if I don’t attend.”

Barra police station in-charge Ravindra Srivastava said that a thorough investigation is underway, and officials are trying to piece together the torn note found at the scene. Based on the family’s complaint, police will take appropriate action.
