23 parties of INDIA block have written a letter to the CJI regarding the SIR process of the Election Commission and other election issues. AAP and DMK have also signed this joint letter, in which serious concerns have been raised over the electoral process.
New Delhi [भारत]June 30 (ANI): Parties from the INDIA block, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and DMK, have joined hands to raise concerns over the Special Intensive Scrutiny (SIR) process of the Election Commission of India and other election issues. The alliance has written a joint letter to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) regarding its concerns.
Sources told ANI that the signatures of DMK and AAP could be obtained on the joint letter after intensive behind-the-scenes talks led by the major parties of the INDIA block.
The letter, which was initially discussed at the INDIA Janbandhan meeting on June 8, has now been signed by 23 political parties and one independent, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on
“21 political parties and one independent participated in the meeting of INDIA Janbandhan held on June 8, 2026, where it was decided to write a joint letter to the Honorable Chief Justice on the SIR process of the Election Commission of India and other election related issues.… — Jairam Ramesh (@Jairam_Ramesh) June 30, 2026

Earlier, Jairam Ramesh had described the June 8 INDIA block meeting as “good”, saying the alliance had a “constructive agenda” on a range of issues, including the economy, Centre-state relations, protection of the Constitution and foreign policy.
Kharge enumerated the failures of the government
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had said the INDIA block should strengthen unity and continue its coordinated approach against what he described as multiple governance challenges, including concerns over electoral processes, inflation, unemployment and institutional abuses.
Kharge said during the ‘INDIA Janbandhan’ meeting, “On April 17, 2026, we demonstrated our unity and solidarity in a very decisive manner in the Lok Sabha, when we all came together strongly and defeated the Modi government’s malicious bills on delimitation. Now we must strengthen and carry forward the same spirit, so that we can face the many political, economic, social and foreign policy challenges faced by the country due to the misgovernance of the Modi government.”
He further said that coordinated efforts are needed to deal with the challenges faced by governance and institutions in the country.
Kharge had said, “Because of SIR, the voting rights of millions of our people are being taken away. The attack on the Constitution continues unabated. Investigative agencies are increasingly being used as a tool to harass, intimidate and threaten political opponents. Non-BJP governments are being discriminated against. Prices of essential commodities are continuously rising, and the economic environment is extremely negative. The pace of new investment required to create new jobs is not happening at that level. Private monopolies are on the rise, and the future of MSMEs is in serious jeopardy. The hopes and aspirations of millions of our youth, especially in BJP-ruled states, have been completely weakened, and the traditional values that India has stood for for so long have not been maintained.
The strong counterattack by the united opposition on the SIR process shows that despite differences within the alliance, parties can come together on specific issues to challenge the BJP. (ANI)
