Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has warned the Central Government that if the promise of withdrawing the FIRs registered during the student movement is not fulfilled, then a big movement will be launched again. CJP has refused to accept the interim order of the Supreme Court on the FIR.
New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke and other leaders have given a stern warning to the central government. He has said that if the promise of withdrawing the FIRs registered during the student movements across the country is not fulfilled within the stipulated time, then a big movement will be launched again. The CJP on Tuesday alleged that the Supreme Court’s interim order is against the government’s promise made during the withdrawal of the agitation. In its order, the court has allowed the authorities to continue the investigation on the FIR.
CJP’s chief spokesperson Saurav Das said, “Our clear understanding in talks with the government was that the FIRs against the protesters would be withdrawn. We hope that the government will honor its promise.” In an interview, Saurav Das said, “The Supreme Court has said that the FIRs already registered will not be returned. But this was not an issue in our conversation with the government.”
He clarified, “Our agreement with the government was different. We expect that they will fulfill their promises. The conditions imposed by the Supreme Court are not acceptable to us.” Das stressed that the Supreme Court order should be seen “in addition” to the CJP’s demands and not as a final decision. The government must fulfill its commitments made to the protesters.
Saurav Das told news agency ANI, “If the Supreme Court works in the interest of the youth, then we welcome such orders or decisions. On the other hand, we have been active at the grassroots level for a long time and some of our main demands must be fulfilled; this is most important for us.”
He said that one of our main demands is that all FIRs against the protesters should be canceled and a promise should be made not to take any retaliatory action against them in future.
Das said, “We were hopeful that by Tuesday we would get a written assurance from the government and all the arrested protesters would be released. We had told the administration in the press conference on Monday itself that if the government goes back on its word, then we will be forced to announce a big protest in Delhi again.”
What is the interim order of the Supreme Court?
The Supreme Court has said in its interim order that in cases related to CJP protests, no coercive action should be taken against those student protesters who have no previous criminal record.
The bench ordered the immediate release of the arrested eligible students and directed the authorities to preserve the CCTV footage and other electronic evidence. Also, the court has asked for an impartial investigation into the injuries caused to both the protesters and the police personnel. However, the court did not order withdrawal of the existing FIR and allowed the investigation to continue.
CJP raised questions on the court order
Saurav Das said in a statement that the Supreme Court order goes against the assurance given by the government on July 25 that it would not take any legal action against those involved in peaceful protests and would withdraw the FIR.
Das alleged that the BJP-ruled states could continue taking action against the protesters by using the court order as an excuse. He condemned the fact that the Central Government did not inform the court about the agreement reached with the CJP before the interim order was passed.
Das demanded, “The court has not directed the governments to continue the FIR. Therefore, the power to withdraw the FIR still lies with the executive (government). Therefore, the Center and the BJP/NDA ruled state governments should place the details of the promises given to the CJP before the Supreme Court, so that the court can consider it.” “The deadline given to the central government to fulfill its promises is ending today (Tuesday),” he warned.
Ranka warned of protest again
CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka criticized the central government, especially Union Minister J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh have been demanded to ensure that no chargesheet is filed against the protesters.

At a joint press conference with Rajya Sabha MP and senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, Ranka said the CJP expects the government to share a written agreement of the promises made on Tuesday. He said that if the copy of the agreement is not found and the arrested students are not released, there will be no option left except to resume the protests.

CJP has said that notifications have been received from Bihar and Assam governments regarding withdrawal of cases against the protesters. Saurav Das also informed that assurance has been received that no action will be taken against the protesters in Rajasthan also.
