After the end of the student movement across the country, once again the dispute between Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and the Central Government seems to be deepening. CJP has alleged that while ending the agitation, the government had given assurance of withdrawing the FIR registered against the protesters, but the situation has changed after the interim order of the Supreme Court. The party says that this order is contrary to their understanding and the assurance of the government.
What did CJP say?
CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said that the party’s understanding was that the FIRs registered against peaceful protesters would be withdrawn. He claims that the Supreme Court’s interim order allowing continuation of the investigation into the already registered FIR does not match the assurance given by the government.

Saurav Das said that if people with criminal background were involved in any demonstration, the police can take action against them as per law. But FIR should not be used to target peaceful protesters.

Questions raised on Supreme Court order
In a statement issued on social media platform X, Saurav Das said that the Supreme Court should not be used for political purposes. He alleged that the government can continue taking action against peaceful protesters on the basis of the court order.
However, he also said that nowhere in the court’s interim order has the government been stopped from withdrawing the FIR. According to him, if the government wishes, it can still decide to withdraw the cases using its rights.

Demand to make the agreement public with the government
CJP has demanded that the Central Government should place before the Supreme Court the information about the assurances given during the end of the movement, so that complete transparency is maintained. The party says that if the government does not fulfill its promises within the stipulated time frame, then it will consider resuming the movement across the country.
At present, there has been no official response from the Central Government on these allegations of CJP. In such a situation, the future direction of the government and the judicial process on this entire controversy will be important.
