China’s biggest miracle! Now nuclear radiation will be known only through smartphone

There is no longer any need for large systems to detect nuclear radiation. China has made this task quite easy. The neighboring country has created a chip that can detect nuclear radiation. This chip can be installed in the smartphone, after which your phone will become a nuclear radiation detector. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) is a government company, which has made this chip. CNNC has announced mass production of this chip.

According to Chinese media, CNNC’s semiconductor technology can detect X-ray and gamma radiation. The company has issued an official statement regarding this on the Chinese social media platform WeChat. Let us know if this chip is a smart fone How to make nuclear radiation detector?

Features of nuclear radiation detector chip

The chip developed by CNNC can measure the dose rate of X-ray and gamma radiation. With this, radiation can be measured in the range of 100 nanosieverts/hour to 10 millisieverts/hour.

This large range makes it a good option for use in different environments for radiation dose monitoring. These include nuclear related workplaces such as reactors and weapon plants and natural areas near radiation zones.

Size is small but work is big

Despite having a small size of 15 mm x 15 mm x 3 mm, there has been no compromise on the performance of the chip. CNNC compares its efficiency to a Geiger-Muller counter.

The small size makes it capable of being connected to a smartphone or to an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or drone. These things can be used in places where there is a danger of nuclear radiation.

less electricity is spent

This chip can detect energies ranging from 50 kiloelectron volts to two mega electron-volts, while running at a very low power of one milliwatt. It does not consume much electricity, so it can be used at different places.
