CHICAGO (AP) – The Chicago Bulls have announced the hiring of Stephen Mervis and Acie Law IV to enhance the team’s front office structure under executive vice president Bryson Graham.
Mervis will serve as the senior vice president of basketball operations, while Law will take on the role of vice president of player personnel, as confirmed by the Bulls on Tuesday.
Bryson Graham’s Leadership
Graham, who recently assumed his position as executive vice president of basketball operations, previously held the role of senior vice president of basketball operations with the Atlanta Hawks. He brings over 15 years of experience from his time in the New Orleans Pelicans’ front office.
Roles and Responsibilities
Mervis’s responsibilities will focus on salary cap strategy and analytics, while Law will oversee the draft and scouting processes. Law, who played 12 games for the Bulls during his four seasons in the NBA, will also engage in all player personnel matters, according to the team’s announcement.
Recent Performance and Future Goals
This past season, the Bulls recorded a disappointing 31-51 record, marking their fourth consecutive year without a playoff appearance. As they prepare for the upcoming NBA draft, where they hold the No. 4 pick, a key priority for the front office will be finding a new head coach to replace Billy Donovan.
Background of New Appointees
Mervis joins the Bulls after spending 12 seasons with the Orlando Magic, where he held the position of assistant general manager. Law previously served as the director of player personnel for the Brooklyn Nets and contributed to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s championship success last season.
