Bastar’s first residential sports academy will start soon in Jagdalpur. Here players aged 13 to 17 years will get training in athletics, football and archery. Selection trials will be held soon. The players will also be provided accommodation, diet, education and modern facilities.
Raipur. Young players of Bastar region are now going to get the facility of high level sports training in their own area. Bastar’s first residential sports academy will soon be started in Jagdalpur by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. In this academy, children will be given training in athletics, football and archery sports. The department will soon organize selection trials for the selection of players.
Inspection of preparations for starting sports academy conducted
Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Mrs. Tanuja Salam reached Jagdalpur and took stock of the preparations for the proposed academy. He held a meeting with the sports officials of Bastar region and reviewed the existing sports infrastructure and facilities. During the inspection, he took information about the accommodation, food arrangements, school facilities, vehicle arrangements, sports material and other basic facilities available for the players. He also inspected the proposed academy building and gave necessary instructions to the officials to improve the arrangements.
Bastar players will get national level training
Mrs. Salam said that with the opening of residential sports academy in Bastar region, local talents will get a bigger platform. Here players will get modern training along with diet, sports equipment, accommodation, education, insurance, medical facilities and an opportunity to participate in high level competitions. He said that Bastar has a large number of naturally talented players. With the start of the academy, these players will get an opportunity to perform better at the state and national level, which will enable them to win medals for the state and the country.
Players aged between 13 to 17 years will be able to take part in the selection trials.
Advertisement for selection trial will soon be issued by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. Child players in the age group of 13 to 17 years will be able to participate in this.
Players will be selected for various sports in the academy as follows-
- Athletics: 20 players
- Football: 25 players
- Archery: 20 players
The selected players will be given regular training by staying in the residential academy.
Also visited Khelo India Hockey Center
During her stay in Jagdalpur, Mrs. Tanuja Salam also inspected the hockey center operated at Khelo India Mini Center, Pandaripani. He inspected the hostel building and gym hall and took information about the number of players training and the sports material available. After talking to the players, he also took feedback regarding the training arrangements and available facilities and gave instructions to further improve the arrangements.
