Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday paid an emotional tribute to former Prime Minister and ‘Bharat Ratna’ Chaudhary Charan Singh on his death anniversary. The Chief Minister paid floral tributes to his statue installed in the Vidhan Bhawan complex. On this occasion, he described Chaudhary Charan Singh as a true well-wisher of farmers and a great son of Mother India.
Chaudhary Charan Singh’s major contribution in agricultural and revenue reforms
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on 23 December 1902 in Uttar Pradesh. He also played an active role in the country’s freedom struggle. The Chief Minister said that the credit for many major reforms in agriculture and revenue system goes to Chaudhary Charan Singh. He believed that the path to India’s development passes through villages, fields and barns.
Emphasis laid on making farmers the priority of the government
CM Yogi said in his address that farmers should always be included in the priorities of the government. Government schemes should be such that their benefits reach the farmers directly. He said that Chaudhary Charan Singh fought for the rights of farmers and their welfare throughout his life. In view of his contribution in the interest of the country, he was awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’.
UP government is running many schemes in the interest of farmers
The Chief Minister said that the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously working to cherish the memories of Chaudhary Charan Singh and strengthen the interests of farmers. He said that the construction of Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow is also an important step in this direction.
CM Yogi said that Chaudhary Charan Singh was not only a big politician, but he also played an important role in the development of the society and the country. He died on 29 May 1987, but his thoughts regarding farmers and rural development are still relevant.

On this occasion, many public representatives including Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Minister of State KP Malik, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Rajya Sabha MP Brajlal, MLA Neeraj Bora, Amresh Kumar, Legislative Council member Lalji Prasad Nirmal, Ramchandra Pradhan and Umesh Dwivedi were present.
