Kolkata (West Bengal) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy on Sunday said Chandrima Bhattacharya broke party chief Mamata Banerjee’s trust and failed to discharge her responsibilities by not opposing “outsiders” who tried to capture the party office. He said that due to anger within the party over his actions no one tried to stop his departure.
Speaking to ANI, Saugata Roy said, “Chandrima Bhattacharya was the state TMC president. Outsiders came and tried to capture the office. At that time, Chandrima Bhattacharya was in the office, but she did not oppose it. By not doing so, she did wrong. She did not fulfill her responsibility. Hence, there was anger among people inside the party. She herself left the party. We did not try to stop her. Mamata Banerjee had given her many posts. Even after losing an election, she got He was brought back after winning from the other seat, but he betrayed the trust,” he added.

The resignation comes at a time of high dramatic developments in West Bengal politics as the owner of the property that houses TMC’s state party office in Kolkata locked the premises from inside following reports that a rebel group led by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Ritabrata Banerjee has taken over the building.
What was written in the resignation letter?
In her resignation letter addressed to Mamata Banerjee, Bhattacharya said she is resigning from the post of state president given to her in June 2026. He also withdrew himself as an authorized signatory to the party’s bank accounts and as Banerjee’s authorized person before the Election Commission of India. The letter reads, “I hereby tender my resignation from the post of State President of All India Trinamool Congress… I also hereby resign from all other posts which I am presently holding. Please note that I withdraw myself as an authorized signatory in respect of the accounts maintained in various banks. I also withdraw myself from being your authorized person before the Election Commission of India.”
Expelled MLA welcomed the decision
Reacting to the resignation, expelled TMC MLA Sandipan Saha welcomed the move and claimed that the atmosphere within the “Kalighat Trinamool” was no longer conducive to work. (ANI)
