Men’s cricket teams of India and Pakistan will soon face each other. The occasion will be ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan is hosting this tournament but the Indian government and BCCI have refused to send their team to Pakistan. Due to security reasons, the Indian team will not tour Pakistan. After the refusal of the Indian Board and pressure from the ICC, Pakistan has come on the back foot. Pakistan had to agree to the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy even though it did not want to. Now the matches of the Indian team will not be held in Pakistan but at some other place. However, Pakistan has also put a condition for the future which is not acceptable to BCCI.
Hybrid model should be available in India also: PCB
BCCI is justified in not sending its team to Pakistan. However, Pakistan Cricket Board is also placing the same condition before India. PCB has also clearly told ICC that it will not send its team to India for future ICC events. Pakistan has also demanded that like the Champions Trophy, hybrid model should be adopted for those tournaments also. PCB also wants that in the ICC tournament to be held in India, the Pakistani team should play its matches at other places instead of playing in India.
Why is BCCI hesitating to accept PCB’s condition?
BCCI is not satisfied with such demand of Pakistani board. The condition of its hybrid model is not being accepted by the Indian Board and this is also natural. Actually the Indian team does not tour Pakistan due to security reasons but there is no such case with Pakistan. The reason for the sour relations between India and Pakistan is the terrorist activities carried out by Pakistan in India, whereas India has not carried out any such attacks in Pakistan due to which Pakistani players are in danger in India.
PCB’s attempt to take revenge?
Pakistan had toured India during the ODI World Cup in the year 2023 itself, but now after a year, PCB is refusing to send its team to India for the ICC event. In fact, after a long time, an ICC event is being held in Pakistan and for this the Pakistani board is making big claims from the very beginning that it will successfully organize the entire tournament in its own country. But due to India’s refusal, he is in trouble and in such a situation, he seems to be imposing such a condition with a feeling of revenge as well as to save his honor in front of his cricket fans.
