Prayagraj, 21 November (HS). Allahabad High Court has directed the Chairman of Bilari Municipal Council of Moradabad to remove the garbage dumped on the roadside in village Khabri Awal by December 9.
The court has said that if the garbage is not removed, the chairman should file a personal affidavit disclosing the circumstances of his not being able to do so. The next hearing of the petition will be on December 9. This order has been given by the division bench of Justice MK Gupta and Justice Anees Kumar Gupta while hearing the petition of Karan Veer Singh, resident of Khabri Awal village.
In the petition, the petitioner says that the village is five kilometers away from the Municipal Council. The Public Works Department road runs through the middle of the village. Residential buildings of the villagers have been built on both sides of the road. The Municipal Council is dumping the garbage of the town on both sides of the road in front of Chaudhary Charan Singh Park. Even throwing dead animals. Common people including school going children are facing problems due to foul smell. The villagers complained to the authorities but no action was taken.
When the Municipal Council’s lawyer gave the clarification that the garbage could not be cleaned due to the code of conduct, the court reprimanded the chairman and ordered him to remove the garbage.
