Center’s close watch on Murshidabad violence, 5 additional companies deployed with 300 BSF jawans

Violence has been going on since April 10 in protest against the Waqf Act in Murshidabad, West Bengal. In this case, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan said that the Center is closely monitoring the situation of violence. He also assured West Bengal of all possible help. The Home Secretary said that in addition to about 300 BSF personnel available locally in the violence affected Murshidabad, five more companies have been deployed at the request of the West Bengal government.

In fact, in view of increasing violence in West Bengal, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan did a video conference with the Chief Secretary and DGP of the state to review the situation. The Ministry of Home Affairs reiterated its concern over the deteriorating law and order in Murshidabad.

Five additional companies of central forces deployed

Nearly 300 personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) are already deployed in Murshidabad and the Center has deployed five additional companies of central forces to help restore the system. Youth dies after being shot

Both are undergoing treatment at Murshidabad Medical College and it is being told that their condition is stable. Additional Director General (Law and Order) Javed Shamim said that a total of 138 people have been arrested in connection with unrest.

Police vehicles set fire

Explain that the protesters set fire to the police vehicles, blocked the roads and damaged the railway property. Train services between Dhuliandanga and Nimmatita stations were interrupted for about six hours on Friday on the New Farakka-Azimganj section of Eastern Railway. Prohibition has been implemented in many areas of Murshidabad and internet services have been discontinued to prevent further violence.

CM Mamta appealed for peace

At the same time, while appealing for peace, CM Mamta Banerjee urged people of all communities not to come to an end. In a post on X, he wrote, I have a humble appeal to people of all religions that please be calm, be restrained. Do not behave any irreligious in the name of religion. Every person’s life is precious, do not provoke riots for politics. Those who are provoking riots are harming the society.

Demand for investigation from NIA

Meanwhile, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari wrote a letter to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav demanding an inquiry into the railway property from the NIA during the protest. The official said in a post on X, “Let it be said that it was not a protest, but a pre -planned act of violence, an attack on democracy and governance by jihadi forces, who want to claim anarchy to claim their dominance and create fear in other communities of our society.”

Politics fast on violence

The assembly elections are a year away, political anger erupted on the news of unrest in Murshidabad on Saturday, as Bengal BJP chief and Union Minister Sukant Majumdar accused the Mamata Banerjee government of failing to protect Hindus in Samserganj, Suti and Jangipur. Majumdar said that the administration is looking at the other side during the attack on Hindus.

Order for deployment of CAPF personnel

Amid increasing unrest in areas like Sati and Samserganj, the Calcutta High Court while taking action on the petition filed by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari ordered the deployment of CAPF personnel in the affected areas. A bench headed by Justice Saumen Sen said that when such situations arise, the court cannot keep its eyes closed and emphasized the need to provide adequate protection to the citizens. The court also directed the Center and the state to submit a detailed report on the situation before the next hearing on 17 April.
