President Trump’s statement once again came amidst the conflict between America and Iran. April 21 was the last date for the temporary ceasefire between the two countries to end. On the same day i.e. on Tuesday, Trump announced that he is extending the ceasefire. But the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz will still remain. Trump also said that Iran wants to open Hormuz because it makes a daily profit of 500 million dollars from it. That means Iran is facing a loss of Rs 500 million per day due to the closure of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire with Iran, while continuing the blockade around the Strait of Hormuz. He said that Tehran is suffering huge economic losses and before the talks can proceed, it will have to give a one-time proposal. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that due to the closure of this important shipping route, Iran is suffering a huge loss in oil earnings. He wrote that Iran does not want the Strait of Hormuz to be closed, because it earns about $500 million dollars every day and if it remains closed, it suffers the same loss.
Trump’s claim on Hormuz
He said that Iran is only saying that it wants to keep it closed because America has completely blocked it and they want to save their image. Trump claimed that a few days ago people came to him and said that Iran wants to open this route immediately. But he made it clear that if this was done, no deal would be possible with Iran.
Earlier, Trump had taken the decision to extend the ceasefire on the request of Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said that until Iran’s leadership gives a joint proposal, the blockade will continue and US forces will remain fully ready.
