Caste, discrimination and untouchability…Twinkle Khanna speaks on Zomato's 'pure vegetarian fleet' controversy

Recently, Zomato had announced that it will hire separate people for the delivery of pure vegetarian food. Their delivery team will wear green clothes and will be called pure vegetarian fleet. In this facility, people will have the freedom to order food from restaurants that sell only pure vegetarian food. There was a lot of controversy over this announcement of Zomate. Now Twinkle Khanna has expressed her views on this matter.

In an article written in Times of India, he has said that Zomato might have seen that this is a need which no one else is fulfilling and might have thought of making profit from it. He has written that unlike vegetarians and vegans, pure vegetarians have signs of caste, discrimination and untouchability.

Twinkle Khanna writes, “The people of Zomato have done what successful entrepreneurs are known to do – see a need that no one else is fulfilling, provide that service and make a profit. It is a different matter that food is divided into pure and impure and a team is prepared for delivery which has to wear green clothes, due to which a large section of the country appears red.”

Twinkle Khanna said, “On the face of it, it seems that this decision is a solution for those people who need a particular type of food, but in reality they forgot that different from vegetarian and vegan, Pure vegetarianism includes the meaning of caste, high, low and untouchability.”

Twinkle Khanna says that not only in songs and bhajans, but also the words written in public forums can have a different impact on us than expected. As the people of Zomato have also now realized the use of the word pure vegetarian. Twinkle Khanna described words as powerful creatures. He believes that if words are used wisely, they act as a bridge between sorrow and happiness.

Let us tell you that seeing the growing controversy, Zomato had withdrawn the decision of delivery in green uniform. Although the company said that there will be a pure vegetarian fleet on Zomato, but it will wear red uniform like before.
