Officials said that searches are being conducted at 5 places in Uttar Pradesh, 3 in Maharashtra, 2 in Delhi and one place each in Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Gujarat, Telangana and West Bengal.

The accused had become radicals in Dubai

The raid comes after the three men arrested in connection with the petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Tuesday (June 16) were linked to the ISI-funded Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH) and were radicalized in Dubai, sources said.

Sources said that Saif Ansari and Aman Ansari went to Dubai, where they came in contact with a Pakistani national Shahbaz Rana alias Bhatti. “Subsequently, they became radicalized and agreed to spread the anti-India activities of TTH,” the sources had said.

Sources said the accused were in constant touch with the handlers working in Dubai through ‘Botim App’ and WhatsApp, and after the attack, they filmed the incident on their mobile phones and sent the video to their handlers.

This is how the police arrested the accused

Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan had said that the three arrested people have been identified as Saif Ansari, Aman Ansari and Sayam Sujan. The police traced them using technical evidence and the Rapido cab used in the incident, and with the help of Bokaro and Koderma police, arrested them while on the run.

The SSP had earlier informed, “On June 16, an incident took place where some unidentified criminals hurled a petrol bomb at the RSS office in Nivaranpur. Although there was no damage, considering the sensitivity of the incident, we all were actively involved. When we started the investigation based on technical and other evidence, we found that the criminals had used a Rapido cab in the incident. When we identified the criminals, they were on the run, and we contacted Bokaro and Koderma police.” With the help of which they were arrested.”

Ranjan had said that the case would be transferred to Jharkhand ATS as the investigation had revealed “international and terror links”. Police also said they are investigating the wider network and funding, so more arrests are possible.

The accused had tried to escape from the lockup

He said that the accused who threw the petrol bomb tried to escape from the lockup of the Kotwali police station twice. SSP Ranjan said, “During the initial interrogation, we uncovered some important links including some international links. We are currently investigating them. We recommended to the police headquarters that any investigation in this case should be done by the ATS. Further investigation in this case will be done by the ATS. One of these three criminals, who had thrown the petrol bomb, originally tried to escape from the lockup. He was being interrogated in the lockup of the Kotwali police station. We have handed him over to the Commander. Caught at the checkpoint, he again snatched the police officer’s weapon and opened fire on him in self-defence. He is currently undergoing treatment.”

He further said, “A total of three people, Saif Ansari, Aman Ansari and Sayam Sujan, have been arrested. Apart from these, there are some other links which will be investigated. Any incident has only two motives. One is to spread rumours, and the other is to harm social harmony in any way.” (ANI)
