The vehicle carrying Amarnath pilgrims met with an accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Five devotees from Madhya Pradesh were injured in the accident, out of which the condition of a woman is critical. Union Minister Jitendra Singh has assured all possible help.

Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir) [भारत]July 10 (ANI): Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday assured all possible help. He gave this assurance after the vehicle of devotees going on Amarnath Yatra from Madhya Pradesh met with an accident near Toldi Nala on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Five people were injured in this accident, out of which a woman suffered serious injuries.

In a post on Twitter, the Union minister said he has spoken to Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa and is closely monitoring the situation. Singh said, “Just spoke to DC Udhampur Minga Sherpa when news of a private motor vehicle going for Amarnath Yatra from Madhya Pradesh met with an accident near Toldi Nala on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Five people have been injured, one of whom is a woman seriously and they have been immediately referred to Government Medical College, Jammu. All possible assistance is being provided. My office is in constant touch.”

Rescue team immediately reached the spot

According to officials, the accident occurred when an Ertiga car, which was part of a convoy of Amarnath pilgrims going from Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu towards Pahalgam, lost control and crashed into a wall along National Highway-44. Personnel of 137 battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Gorkha 4/3, Civil Defence, Traffic Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

The injured pilgrims were admitted to the Associated Hospital Government Medical College, Udhampur for treatment. One of the injured, identified as Seema Gupta, suffered serious injuries and was later referred to the Government Medical College, Jammu for better treatment, officials said. Strict security arrangements on the travel route

Meanwhile, Amarnath Yatra 2026 continues amid tight security arrangements. CRPF has deployed Road Opening Party (ROP) on National Highway-44 to ensure safe movement of pilgrims.

Additionally, the 84th battalion of CRPF has set up a 24×7 mobile health camp at Chandrakot in Ramban district. The camp is equipped with an advanced life saving ambulance, medical personnel and essential medicines to provide emergency health services to the pilgrims and local residents. (ANI)
