At the same time, BYD has taken an edge over Tesla in Tesla’s biggest market, China. His cell is decreasing there. In this way, the entry of Tesla in a market with a population of 150 billion like India becomes very important and is it going to help it with India’s policy.

Not to byd, yes to Tesla

In the EV policy made by the Government of India, there is a provision for import of electric cars on import duty of 15 percent. Along with this, there is also a condition that that company will have to install a factory or assembly line in India within three years. On this, he will also have to invest $ 500 million. The Government of India has been urging Tesla to set up a factory here for a long time.

On the other hand, China’s byd has planned to invest one billion dollars in India. Its proposal has been pending with the government for more than a year. The Government of India has made a policy regarding China and the companies there that the approval of the Central Government on investment from China is mandatory.

Recently, Union Industries Minister Piyush Goyal has also said in an interview to Bloomberg that India can be careful about its strategy. Therefore, the plan of byd cannot be approved right now.

BYD currently sells from electric bus to electric cars in India. The company has also introduced a new car byd Sealion in the recent Auto Expo 2025.

Byd is giving Tesla a washerman

China’s electric car company BYD has increased its dominance in the global car market. The overall cell of Byd, the first 3 months of 2025, has jumped by 60 percent. During this time, this Chinese company has sold more than 10 lakh EV and hybrid cars. While Tesla’s sale has been less than 3.5 lakh units.

Byd sold only 4.16 lakh units of pure electric cars between January and March. According to CNN report, this cell is also 39 percent more than last year. The company’s cell has increased by 60 percent by combining hybrid cars.

The global cell of Tesla’s electric vehicles has been 3.36 lakh units in January-March. Last year it was 3.87 lakh units. In this way, Tesla’s cell has fallen by 13 percent.
