A 17-year-old student living in Curtorim area of Goa allegedly committed suicide. Initial investigation has revealed that the student was extremely upset with the news of cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 exam and was under mental stress due to the pressure of re-appearing in the exam. This case is not only a family tragedy, but is also giving rise to a serious debate about the country’s examination system and the increasing mental pressure on students.
The student was alone at home, his father returned and saw the painful scene.
According to the information, the student was originally from Bengaluru and was studying in a higher secondary school in Margao area of Goa. He was living with his family in Nesai, Curtorim. The incident is said to have happened on Tuesday. At that time the student was alone at home. His mother and sister had gone to their native village, while his father was posted as a guard in the Railways and had gone on duty. When the father returned from work, he found his son hanging. After this the local police was informed.

Pain expressed in suicide note
Police have also found an alleged suicide note from the spot. According to initial information, the student had written in the note that he no longer wants to appear in any competitive examination. According to sources, the student was mentally broken after the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 exam. He was deeply stressed that now he would have to go through the entire preparation and difficult process again. However, the police is investigating the matter and all aspects are yet to be officially confirmed.
Why was NEET-UG 2026 exam cancelled?
NEET-UG 2026 exam was held on May 3, but later allegations of paper leak and exam irregularities started surfacing. After this, the National Testing Agency took the decision to cancel the examination. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the investigation was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation. CBI has registered a case under criminal conspiracy, fraud and other sections.
Big revelations in the investigation of paper leak network
According to the investigating agencies, the network of paper leaks was spread across many states. Initial investigation has revealed that it has links to Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. According to sources, the question papers were spread through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. During the investigation, two brothers, Mangilal and Dinesh Biwal, have been arrested. It is alleged that he had obtained the paper from a doctor in Gurugram. Now the investigating agencies are busy identifying those students and parents who allegedly gave money to buy the leaked papers.

Experts say that the ever-increasing competition in competitive examinations like medical and engineering is putting huge mental pressure on the students. Every year lakhs of students prepare for limited seats. Many students live under the pressure of coaching, test series and continuous studies for years.
