Vishakha and Dr. Nitin Tilkar were married on April 30 this year. The family alleges that everything was normal before marriage, but immediately after marriage, Vishakha’s life became like hell. The in-laws were unhappy with the fact that they did not get the expected gifts and ‘respect’ at the wedding. The family alleges that they were continuously pressurizing Vishakha to bring more money and gold from her maternal home.

The atrocities on Vishakha were not limited to physical torture only. To keep an eye on her every move, husband Nitin had installed several CCTV cameras inside and outside the house. Due to this, Vishakha’s personal life was completely ruined. Relatives told the police that she was under a lot of mental stress.

Through these cameras, Nitin used to constantly keep an eye on who Vishakha was talking to and what she was doing at home. Even if she came out of the house and talked to anyone, she was beaten brutally. Family members told that even two days before committing suicide, Nitin had beaten Vishakha badly for talking to a woman in the neighbourhood.

Just before committing suicide, Vishakha had called her mother and tearfully told her about the atrocities she was facing. Hearing the painful story of their daughter, the parents were preparing to bring her back home from her in-laws’ house when they got the news of Vishakha committing suicide by hanging herself.

A relative of Vishakha said, “Nitin had installed CCTV cameras inside and outside the house so that he could see what Vishakha was doing and who she was talking to. If she talked to anyone, he would beat her badly when she came home. Fed up with all this, she committed suicide.”

In this matter, on the complaint of Vishakha’s family, a case has been registered at Shivajinagar Police Station in Ambernath and investigation has been started. Police have registered a case of mental and physical torture and abetment of suicide against husband Nitin Tilkar, his mother Chhaya and brother Ninad. Nitin Tilkar has been arrested, while his mother and brother are absconding, whom the police is searching for.
