Four years after Brahmastra hit the silver screen, we finally have an update on its sequel. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, the movie opened to mixed reviews and did decent business at the box office. According to a latest media report, Brahmastra 2 is being planned with Ranbir, Alia and Deepika Padukone. Yes, you read that right! An entertainment portal suggests that the sequel will feature Alia’s extended cameo as Isha. Her husband Ranbir, on the other hand, is rumoured to have double role in the movie.
Update On Alia Bhatt’s Role
As per Bollywood Hungama, makers are still in talks with Deepika to get her on-board for a substantial role in Brahmastra. However, Alia has reporteldy been locked for the sequel. A source told the portal that she will have an extended appearance in and is expected to shoot for around 25 days.
Brahmastra
Overall, Brahmastra 2 is apparently planned for an approximately 125-day shoot. The second part will reportedly revolve around the characters of Dev and Amrita. Ranbir is expected to portray two characters in this project. He might be seen as Dev and Shiva. While Deepika is likely to essay Amrita, Alia will be back as Isha.
When it comes to Brahmastra 2, Alia might have a parallel lead along with Deepika. The report further suggests that Ayan has cracked a solid script for the second part and is working hard for Brahmastra 2. The filmmaker, who last directed War 2, is reportedly planning to take the film on floors in April 2027.
How Did Brahmastra Perform At Box Office?
According to Sacnilk, the Ayan Mukerji directorial earned a whopping Rs 267.20 crore at the domestic box office. On the other hand, the fantasy film minted Rs 431 crore internationally. Apart from Ranbir and Alia, the project featured Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Mouni and Shah Rukh Khan.
Alia Bhatt’s Work Front
On the work front, was last seen in YRF’s Alpha. Co-starring Sharvari, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, the spy thriller opened to mixed feedback on July 3. Directed by Shiv Rawail, it was the first femald-led spy thriller in Yash Raj Films’ spyverse. Her upcoming movie is Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film will be released on January 21, 2027.
On the other hand, she also has Tummbad 2 with Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Helmed by Adesh Prasad, the sequel to Tummbad will arrive in theatres on December, 2027.
