Boxing World Cup 2026: Jyoti Assured Medal as Prachi, Nikhil Advance to Next Round

 Indian boxers Jyoti, Prachi and Nikhil advanced on the second day of the Boxing World Cup (Stage 2) in China. Jyoti reached the semi-finals and secured a medal for India, while Prachi and Nikhil moved into the next round of their weight classes.

Prachi produced a 5-0 unanimous decision win over USA’s Deborah Grant in the women’s 57kg category. Jyoti followed with a strong showing in the women’s 48kg division, beating Mongolia’s Enkh Amgalan Nomundari by Referee Stops Contest in the second round. Nikhil edged France’s Christopher Hippocrate 3-2 in the men’s 55kg class.

India’s day-two results

Other Indian boxers had mixed results on day two. Poonam lost 2-3 to Chinese Taipei’s Hsiao Wen Huang in the women’s 54kg category. Akash went down by the same 2-3 margin against Poland’s Mateusz Urban in the 75kg division. Gitimoni lost 0-5 to France’s Maelys Richol in the women’s 70kg category.

Five Indian boxers are set for action on Day 3. Nikhil faces Brazil’s Kelvy Trindade in the 55kg class. Deepak meets Japan’s Sewon Okazawa in 70kg, while Malsawmtluanga takes on Jordan’s Ashaish Hussein in 80kg. In the women’s bouts, Saneh meets South Korea’s Seon Sujin in 65kg and Mahi Lama plays Mongolia’s Monkhor Namuun in 60kg.
