With the launch of the campaign, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta along with her family filled and submitted the enumeration form under SIR. He also appealed to the people for active participation in this process. On the social media platform X, he wrote that to strengthen democracy, it is important for every voter to have a correct record. He appealed to the citizens to fill the enumeration form on time and submit it to the BLO of their area, calling it a “sacrifice” of democracy.

What is SIR campaign?

Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a special operation of the Election Commission, aimed at comprehensive verification of the voter list. In this process, the voters’ information will be re-checked so that the final voter list is completely accurate and error-free. This campaign will run from June 30 to July 29. During this, BLOs will go door-to-door and distribute counting forms and collect necessary information from voters.

More than 13 thousand BLOs will do door-to-door verification

According to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office of Delhi, more than 13,000 booth level officers have been deployed in 70 assembly seats and 7 Lok Sabha constituencies of the capital. There are a total of 13,033 polling stations in Delhi and BLOs will reach voters’ homes in each area. To reach maximum people, officials have been instructed to conduct verification during morning-evening hours, weekends and holidays also.

What if the house is found locked?

The Election Commission has also made it clear that if a house is found locked for the first time, the BLO will go there again at least three times. The objective is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the verification process.

Why is this campaign important?

The Election Commission believes that an accurate and updated voter list is the strongest foundation for fair and transparent elections. For this reason, all citizens have been appealed to cooperate with the BLO, fill the counting form on time and get their voter information verified. This will avoid any kind of problem during voting in future.
