BJP’s Kanhaiya Lal ahead, Congress’ Ghasilal behind in Malpura. – Khel Ja

In the initial trends, BJP candidate Kanhaiyalal Chaudhary is leading by 1574 votes from Malpura seat. Ghasilal of Congress is lagging behind. Malpura assembly seat falls in Tonk district of Rajasthan. This seat is also known after the name of Damodar Vyas, who was a minister in the Rajasthan government. In 2018, there was a close contest between BJP and Congress on this seat. BJP’s Kanhaiya Lal had won by more than 29 thousand votes. This time BJP has again made Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary its candidate from this seat. His contest is between Ghasi Lal Chaudhary of Congress.

The contest on this seat has become Chaudhary versus Chaudhary. In such a situation, there is a tough competition between BJP and Congress. Since 1990, no Congress candidate has won the Malpura seat. In the 2018 elections, BSC stood third here. Voting was held for Malpura assembly seat on 25 November.

This seat has been the stronghold of many stalwarts

Malpura assembly constituency is counted among the important seats of Tonk district. 50 year old Kanhaiyalal Chaudhary has been MLA from here twice. BJP candidate Kanhaiyalal, who has obtained a diploma in civil engineering, besides being an MLA, also runs a private school. He has done many construction and development works here. He has 4 daughters and one son.

Malpura has been the stronghold of many veteran leaders of the assembly constituency. This includes the state’s former Home Minister Damodar Vyas, his son Surendra Vyas, Rajasthan’s first MBA pass and Chhavi Rajawat of Soda village, who later held the post of Sarpanch.

How is political history?

This seat has its own political history. Rajmata Gayatri Devi had contested elections from here in 1967 on Swatantra Party ticket and had to face defeat. This seat was once ruled by the Vyas family. Damodar Vyas was elected unopposed from here in the assembly elections held in 1952 and 1957. After that, Surendra Vyas became MLA from here on Congress ticket in the assembly elections of 1972, 1980 and 1990. At the same time, Jeetram Choudhary became MLA from this seat on BJP ticket in 1993 and 2003. Congress had campaigned vigorously to return to this seat.

BJP wants to maintain its dominance on this seat. In the last assembly elections, 77 percent voting took place on this seat. There are a total of more than 2 lakh 32 thousand voters here, out of which about 1,20,078 are male and about 1,12,247 are female voters.
