Yesterday, many Congress leaders were detained during the protest over the paper leak issue in Delhi.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to hold a big protest against the Congress Party in Lucknow today. This protest is taking place after the alleged uproar by Congress workers outside Jantar Mantar and the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm outside the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) office, which will be led by BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary.
Congress demonstration and detention of leaders in Delhi
The move follows the high-voltage drama that unfolded in the national capital on Tuesday, where senior Congress leaders and workers reportedly protested outside the Prime Minister’s residence.
Earlier on Tuesday, Congress leaders had taken out a march from Rajaji Marg to Lok Kalyan Marg. They were demanding accountability on alleged exam paper leak, action regarding police action on student protesters and resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Meanwhile, during the party’s protest on Lok Kalyan Marg, Delhi Police detained Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi and several other leaders and later released them.
Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and several other opposition leaders emerged from the Chhatrasal Stadium, where they were detained by the police.
While the police were detaining the protesters, Priyanka Gandhi criticized the government’s action. “They are cowards. They are scared. We are not afraid of them. They are afraid of us,” he told ANI while being taken into police custody.
When security forces were dispersing the protesters gathered near Lok Kalyan Marg, policemen were seen taking Rahul Gandhi towards a police bus.
Several Congress MPs and party workers were also detained during the protests.
Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi reached Mandir Marg police station, where Priyanka Gandhi was kept in custody.
Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and Pawan Kheda protested at Lok Kalyan Marg.
Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan and Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar also joined the protest.
The entire ruckus happened after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on Monday, which was cracked down on by the police in Central Delhi. (ANI)
