Chitta business is continuously deepening in Himachal Pradesh. Due to the continuous action of STF, now many layers of this network have started being revealed. Major action has been taken against drug smugglers operating on the Punjab-Himachal border.

Big action against drug smugglers

STF first arrested two youths with 60.45 grams of chitta and on their information, within a few hours, they also arrested two other accused. During this time, 18 grams of Chitta was also recovered from his possession.

Links of supply chain exposed during inquiry

According to the information, after 60.45 grams of Chitta was recovered from two youths of Talwara on Saturday, STF interrogated them thoroughly. Based on the input received during interrogation, the Anti Chitta team raided Haled village adjacent to Talwara late in the evening. As soon as the police team arrived, one of the two youths present there started running away, but the team chased him and caught him at a short distance.

Two more smugglers arrested

During the search, 18 grams of Chitta was recovered from the possession of both the accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohit Thapar and Rajneesh Kumar, residents of Firozpur district of Punjab. Preliminary investigation has revealed that both of them had started living in Haled village with a rented room about 20 days ago.

STF busy investigating the entire network

STF is now trying to find out from where the recovered Chitta was brought and in which areas of Himachal it was to be supplied. The investigating agencies are also thoroughly investigating the entire supply network, financial transactions and the role of other people associated with it.

Youth are being made medium

During the investigation, it has also come to light that drug smugglers are using underage youth and boys in the age group of 19 to 20 years for supplying cigarettes. Due to their young age, they are not easily suspected, which smugglers are taking advantage of. However, the police is also investigating this aspect thoroughly.

STF’s strict message

STF’s ASP Renu Kumari said that on the basis of information received from the earlier arrested accused, success has been achieved in accessing the backward link. He said that no person associated with chitta smuggling will be spared and strict action will be taken against the entire network.
