If you are going to buy a new bike, then you should have correct information about why the first service of the motorcycle is necessary? Many people forget to get the first service done on time, due to which the engine gets adversely affected. Today we will tell you how your bike can get damaged if servicing is not done at the right time.
To know more about this, we have talked to Anil Kumar, an auto expert with good knowledge of bikes and scooters and owner of Shabbir Automobile (Madhu Vihar, IP Extension Delhi).
What do experts say?
Anil Kumar told that while buying a new bike, you get information about how many kilometers the first service has to be done in the booklet you get along with the bike. Some companies recommend first service at 750 and some at 1000 kilometers.
If a person misses the first service at the specified kilometer, then in this case if any part gets damaged then the company can void the warranty of that part. The company can also refuse the customer because the part has been damaged due to not getting the service done at the right time. This means that in this case you may have to pay out of pocket for the defective part.
Apart from this, if the service is not done at the kilometers specified by the company, it can have a negative impact on the engine and may even lead to engine damage. There are small metal particles in the engine and when the bike is ridden, they start rubbing and mix with the engine oil.
It is very important to remove these during the first service, otherwise the piston and many other parts of the engine can be adversely affected due to which there is a risk of engine damage. If this happens then you can understand how much it can cost to get the engine repaired.
