Bihar by-election: How did 4 PK candidates give political booster to Tejashwi Yadav?

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav seems to be getting a big relief from Prashant Kishor, who has joined the electoral fray in Bihar by forming a party. There are two big reasons for relief. The first reason is the candidate selection of Prashant Kishore and the second reason is the political mood of the by-election. In the political circles of Bihar, the by-election for 4 seats is being called the semi-final of 2025.

Prashant Kishor’s party is preparing to showcase its strength on the basis of this semi-final, but the way PK has fielded candidates, there is happy news in the Tejashwi camp.

PK was being cornered on crime and defection

Prashant Kishore was constantly surrounding Tejashwi Yadav through crime and defection. PK was continuously raising the issue that Tejashwi’s party is not able to come out of caste and criminals.

Right from the beginning, RJD was being accused of giving importance to leaders associated with crime. In such a situation, the way PK was vocal, it was not easy for RJD to give tickets to leaders associated with crime in 2025.

Interestingly, most of the RJD satraps have come from this type of politics. Be it Ritlal Yadav, Rajvallabh Yadav or Munna Shukla. Everyone is accused of being involved in a major crime.

PK was also harassing Tejashwi on his studies. PK was also making his 9th pass a big issue, but now the way the details of Jansuraj’s 4 candidates have come out, Tejashwi can come on the front foot.

Now Tejashwi will come on the front foot, because…

1. PK has fielded 4 candidates in the by-elections. A case has been registered against 3 of them on serious charges. According to the affidavit filed by Belaganj candidate Amjad, cases of extortion, assault and assault have been registered against Amjad. Similarly, a case of theft and robbery has also been registered against Imamganj candidate Jitendra Paswan.

If seen in percentage terms, around 70 percent of the candidates PK has fielded have cases registered against them on serious charges.

2. PK was also a constant attacker on the issue of education, but PK’s candidates are not very educated. The candidate from Belaganj is matriculation pass. Similarly, the one from Imamganj has studied till Intermediate (12th). Tarari candidate Sushil Singh has also studied till Intermediate. The question is arising that if PK is not able to find more educated candidates on 4 seats, then what will happen on 243 seats?

3. There is also a question regarding defection. Two of PK’s candidates have already contested elections from other parties, while PK has been promising to make new leaders in its rallies. Now this question may arise due to the way PK has fielded such candidates on 50 percent seats.

Will it prove to be a lifeline for Tejashwi?

When Prashant Kishor came into politics, Tejashwi Yadav was most worried. Tejashwi was worried about the loss of his core voters, Muslims and Yadavs, as well as the loss of anti-incumbency voters.

Tejashwi’s party had also written a letter regarding PK. Not only this, Tejashwi Yadav himself was taking out the yatra. Even though NDA had won in the last election, the difference in vote margin between both the alliances was only around 2 lakhs.

Now, due to the way PK was rising in politics, Tejashwi’s party was in tension. PK was raising big issues like caste, criminal, defection etc.

The by-election has made the path forward on these issues difficult for PK. If PK is unable to perform in the by-elections, then Tejashwi may get a booster dose of politics before 2025.

By-elections on 4 seats, elections after one year

By-elections are being held on 4 seats of Bihar Assembly. The seats where by-elections are being held include Tarari, Imamganj, Belaganj and Ramgarh. All four seats have become vacant due to MLAs being elected as MPs.

Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar exactly one year from now. There are 243 assembly seats in the state and 122 MLAs are required to form the government. The main contest is between the parties of NDA and Grand Alliance.

PK’s party is already busy in making the contest triangular.
