All the officers and personnel of the Backward and Most Backward Class Welfare Department of Bihar unitedly took an oath against child marriage. This program was organized in the department auditorium at 11 am. On this occasion, everyone said that we will ensure that no girl child gets married in our family, neighborhood and community.
He said that if any incident of child marriage comes to our notice, we will immediately report it to the Panchayat and government officials. We will raise our voice for the education and safety of every child. We support the creation of a child marriage free India.
Need to increase public awareness
During the program the officials stressed the ill effects of child marriage and the need to increase public awareness towards ending it. The department has appealed to the people to play an active role in stopping social evils like child marriage.
Through this initiative, the department has expressed its commitment towards building a “child marriage free society” of the Government of Bihar. This initiative of the department will not only increase social awareness but will also be helpful in protecting the rights of children.
Officials took oath against child marriage
All the officials/employees of the Information and Public Relations Department also took oath against child marriage. Child marriage is a social evil and violation of law. Child marriage is a serious violation of human rights. Child marriage limits the future prospects of children.
Under the Child Marriage Prohibition Act 2006 of the Government of India, marriage of girls below 18 years of age and boys below 21 years of age is prohibited across the country. For violating this, there is a provision of imprisonment of 2 years or fine of Rs 1 lakh or both.
The oath was also taken on the occasion of Child-Marriage Free India Campaign at the Government Polytechnic located in Jamui district of the state. This program was organized as per the orders of the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Bihar and Government of Bihar.
