But in 2024, this type of marriage has started once again. Many government employees, including revenue employees, BSC teachers and children of contractor families were married at gunpoint. one wedding procession five brides
In the year 1989, private teacher Manoj Kumar Singh, resident of Sahiyar Dih of Rosra sub-division of Samastipur district of Bihar, had gone to a wedding procession in Simaria, Begusarai, where along with the groom, five other wedding procession boys were forcibly killed at gunpoint. The marriage was done. At that time all five boys were studying. When the wedding procession went back, the villagers were surprised to see five more brides instead of one bride.
Since then, Sahiyar Dih village of Samastipur is called Pakdaua marriage village. Thus, in the 90s, the practice of forcing marriages by force and sometimes at gunpoint started and this marriage was called ‘Pachdoa Shaadi’. This simply means forcing anyone to marry.
