Bhojpuri actress Aamrapali Dubey was left upset after her friend and fellow contestant Luv Gill referred to her as “Tuntun” in the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20, with the actress saying she felt body-shamed by the remark.
While Luv appeared to use the term affectionately, Aamrapali told her that the comment had hurt her and that she had not expected such a remark from someone she considered close.
However, Luv appeared displeased with Aamrapali’s reaction and told her not to tease her or consider her close, leaving the actress visibly upset.
Aamrapali later explained that she would have preferred Luv to simply acknowledge that the remark had hurt her and assure her that she would not use the word for her again. She said the issue was not about Luv’s intention but about how the comment made her feel.
The disagreement resurfaced when Luv was heard discussing the incident with Asif and other housemates. Luv said Aamrapali had taken offence to the remark despite her not intending to hurt her.
After overhearing the conversation, Aamrapali confronted Luv and reiterated that she viewed the “Tuntun” reference as body shaming. She told Luv that she wanted her to understand the impact of the remark instead of focusing only on the intention behind it.
During their conversation, Luv said she did not know what “Tuntun” referred to when used for a person. Aamrapali responded that the reference was obvious and that the name was widely associated with veteran actress and playback singer Uma Devi Khatri.
Uma Devi was popularly known by her screen name Tuntun and was recognised for her comic and character roles in Hindi cinema. She was also known for her distinctive body type, which became part of her public image.
The exchange added another emotional moment to the ongoing interactions among the contestants in the Bigg Boss 20 house.
