Important news for the devotees of Maa Vaishno Devi and the people living nearby and shopkeepers. An order has been issued by Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Sub Divisional Magistrate of Katra in Jammu and Kashmir Piyush Dhotra has issued a prohibitory order. According to the order, liquor and non-vegetarian items will no longer be sold in and around Katra and the temple. This ban has been imposed under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS) and this order will remain in force for the next 2 months. Legal action will be taken against those who violate this order. This order has been implemented by issuing a press note from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of Jammu and Kashmir. The police department has also been informed about the order.

The order will be implemented in these areas

According to media reports, there will be a strict ban on all types of non-vegetarian food including eggs, chicken, meat, seafood and other animal products. This restriction is applicable in several important areas including villages falling within 2 km radius of Katra to Holy Cave route and surrounding roads. This restriction has been specifically implemented in areas like Arli, Hansali and Matiyal.

This order is also mandatory on Katra-Tikri, Katra-Jammu, Katra-Reasi and Panthal-Domel roads. This order will also be implemented in villages like Chamba, Serli, Bhagta, Kundarorian, Kotli Bajalian, Noman, Maghal, Nau Davian and Aghar Jitto. The order aims to maintain the sanctity of the temple, the holy cave and its surrounding areas, which are visited by lakhs of devotees every year.

According to media reports, Modi government has brought a new ropeway project for the devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi. After the completion of this project, it will take one hour to reach Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan from Katra, whereas currently people get darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi after 7 hours of climbing. This ropeway will be built in Katra city of Jammu and Kashmir. Modi government has approved this project. 300 crore project. After the construction of the ropeway, devotees will not have to hire horses and helicopters to reach the temple.
