New Delhi [भारत]July 15 (ANI): Prominent Muslim organizations, political leaders and intellectuals from across the country are scheduled to hold a meeting at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on July 24, according to people familiar with the preparations. Issues affecting the Muslim community will be discussed in this meeting, including whether to launch a non-cooperation movement or consider boycotting the elections.

The meeting has been called amid growing concern among some sections of the community over what participants say is the failure of governments to provide justice in cases involving Muslims. Organizers are also expected to discuss the inadequate response of opposition parties to these issues.

Who will attend the meeting?

According to sources, Congress leader Salman Khurshid, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Samajwadi Party MP Mohibullah Nadvi and Muslim MPs from several political parties are expected to attend the meeting. Apart from this, representatives of several Muslim organizations including Maulana Arshad Madani, Maulana Mahmood Madani, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Jamaat-e-Ahle-Hadith and All India Muslim Personal Law Board are also expected to participate.

Which issues will be discussed?

The discussions are expected to cover a range of issues, including demolition of mosques, madrassas and houses of Muslims in various states, incidents of mob lynching, the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC), closure of madrassas in Uttarakhand and other issues raised by the community.

According to sources, one of the main agenda items will be whether the community should consider steps, such as launching a non-cooperation movement or boycotting the elections, in response to what participants describe as the continued lack of justice.

Agenda decided in the meeting on July 10

The meeting on July 24 follows a preparatory meeting held on July 10 at the office of Indian Muslims for Civil Rights (IMCR) in Nizamuddin West, Delhi.

That meeting included Salman Khurshid, SP MP Mohibullah Nadvi, Congress leader Danish Ali, former judge Iqbal Ansari, Shahid Siddiqui and former Rajya Sabha MP Mohammad Adeeb. Sources said that the agenda of the July 24 meeting was decided during the discussion on July 10. He said that while some participants objected to the proposal to boycott the elections, others argued that if political parties claiming to be secular do not adequately raise issues related to Muslims, then the community should strengthen its collective voice.

According to a source associated with the meeting, the meeting is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm on July 24 at the Constitution Club in the national capital. (ANI)
