Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said during the program that the Delhi government, with the help of the Centre, is working rapidly on the revival of Yamuna, environmental protection and eco-restoration. He said that the biggest ever green cover campaign has been started in the capital and a special green budget has also been implemented for this.

After the induction of new 300 electric buses, the total number of buses in Delhi has increased to 4,800, which is said to be the highest in the country. The government has set a target of increasing this number to 7,000 electric buses by the year 2027.

The government has also announced a plan to develop 100 oxygen parks in the capital. Of these, work has started on 18 parks. Apart from this, there is also a plan to provide financial assistance to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) for maintaining local parks and enhancing greenery. The government believes that these initiatives will not only increase the green cover but will also improve the air quality of Delhi.

Under EV Policy 2026, focus will be only on electric buses.

The Delhi government had announced the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 on June 30. The objective of this policy is to promote electric vehicles, reduce pollution and create a better electric mobility ecosystem in the capital.

According to the new policy, all the new intra-state buses that the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Transport Department will include in the future will be electric. Over the past year, DTC has also been increasing the number of smaller 9-metre electric buses, which is expected to improve connectivity on routes where larger buses are difficult to operate. The government says that this entire initiative is being taken forward with the support of the Central Government’s PM E-Drive scheme. It is expected to directly benefit millions of daily commuters in the coming years.
